Adventures at Entheos
Locks of Love
On a more personal note. I have to say the strangest thing is knowing
that there’s some kids out there that are wearing your own hair. It’s weird but
really cool as well.
Pedals for hope are another one of those fundraisers that we are
working on. It’s a bike ride that we do every year to raise money for the Huntsman
Cancer Institute. My classmates and I have been working diligently getting
everything put together so that it works out this year.
And one of the things I asked to do was put all this information on my blog. My teacher was all for it. So here I am asking that if you can please donate to help us please do. And if you have any questions that I am not able to answer please contact my teacher at: stacey.leak@entheosel.org.
Our goal this year is $7,500. And all of the money we raise goes directly you the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Over the past 6 years we have raised $27,000. If you donate at least $100 your company logo will go on the back of the t-shirts we wear when we ride our bikes. If you choose to donate, please send a cashier’s check, money order or check to Entheos Academy, 4710 W. 6200 S., Kearns, UT 84118. You can also go to: https://donate.huntsmancancer.org/entheos.
Penny Wars is another way we are raising money. And it’s really simple.
You put a penny in and you get a point. But if you have a nickel put in
yours then 5 points will be deducted. So when you have any silver coins they
take away points. And same with the paper money. It takes points away as well.
Penny = +1
Nickel = -5Dime = -10
Quarter = -25
1 Dollar = -100
10 Dollars = -1,000
20 Dollars = -2,000

People are still commenting on my hair
People are Still Commenting on my Hair.
My science teacher came up to me a few days ago and said that it was a great thing I did. A woman at the healing field on the lawns in front of the Sandy City Hall. She asked, "Is this something you guys do just for something to do, or what?" When we told her, she said, "Oh that is so cool. I just got a chill up my leg!"
At the fair there were these girls who saw me and they started whispering to each other and I just stood there and smiled. Those are the events I remember from the last week or so, having to do with my hair.
There are even people who come up to me and say, "I don't want to hurt your feelings but I was wondering about your hair..." When I would tell them, they would say, "oh okay", with a sigh if relief.
Just a Side Note
The worst thing ever is an itchy head. But for me the best thing is just a regular soft bristle brush. Its nice to have a head that isn't itchy
Another wonderous thing is that when I'm washing my hair I don't have to use a lot of shampoo and conditioner. Saving money, WOOHOO!!! And when I'm done washing my hair I can dry my hair just like that.
Amazing
That also saves a lot of time when I'm getting ready for school, another WOOHOO!!! Didn't really have to brush my hair, because well, I really don't have any hair, yet. Hehehe.
:)
Who knew that a simple hair cut was so awesome for so many different reasons?

First Day of School
So today was my first day of school, and no one knew about my wonderful hair cut. Why? Because I wanted to see every ones face when they saw me.Oh and it was so worth it. ;)
I had people asking ,whispering, taking double takes, and of course wanting to touch my hair. I even had the dumb boys trying to sneakily touch my hair, but that didn't work out to well though. One of my good friends didn't know, while I was in my first class he saw me, and literally he sat there for like 2 minutes. Finally he went to another of my friends and started whispering. All I did was smile.
My science teacher was taking role call and had to look twice at me. My reading teacher wanted, in the worst way, to feel my hair, and some other teachers thought I was so brave to do something like that.
And my sister had every one touching her hair.
Hehehe.
And now I'm wondering how long its going to take to get around the school.

My Project
This is me before, and after. School doesn't start for a few more days. I wonder what everyone is going to think.
Hi my name is Mikel and I'm 13 years old.
So I am starting this blog to show others what I did.
What is that you ask? Well, I shaved my head. I have done it twice, and both times it was a lot of fun. But I always thought it was strange how some little kid was wearing my hair, now there is going to be two little kids wearing my hair.
The last time I did this I had a lot of different experiences. Like the two little girls at the furniture store who made it a point to tell their "mommy" about my hair. As one pointed, the other whispered, "Mommy, that girl has no hair!" Or the little boy at the look out at the lake whose voice carried to us on the wind. He also pointed and and loudly proclaimed for his dad to look at us.
Then there were people who, when I told them about why I had done it, looked at me like I was crazy. However, there were many, many more people that responded to my bare head with tears, and a giant, sometimes several, giant hugs.
At my old school many of the kids there didn't seem to care. Then about a year ago I went to a new school and when those kids found out, they all thought that it was so cool that I would give up all my hair.
I think its funny how I get halfway done with my hair cut and then I start having second thoughts, but you know its impossible to go back. This is day three and I cant wait to see what all my friends think about it. One of my friends said they wanted to do it too. (We'll see if her parents let her.)
So with her prompting, I've decided to see how many people I could get to donate all of their hair for some little kid. A kid who struggles every day, with a serious disease and a loss of hair because of the treatment's for that disease.
So if you decide to donate all of your hair please let me know. And I'm not talking about to the shoulders or to the ears, I mean to the shortest you could possibly make it without being completely bald.
Here in a 2 minute nutshell, is me taking the plunge.
My project.
I am so grateful to have the support of my mom and my sister. They are both walking around bald with me too. I am glad they are willing to do this with me.
